Hello
I am Richard Hall, and I formed Jigsaw Landscapes Ltd in 2005. I am passionate about my work; I’ve always known I wanted to be a landscaper. My first taste of the professional natural world came when I began to work in a nursery as a holiday job at the age of 14. I loved it! To start with, it was all the different plants that intrigued me and I relished learning what different plants needed to make them thrive. Pretty soon I started to take an interest in the best settings to bring out the plant’s features and it’s really only a short step from there into landscaping.
Myerscough College was plainly the place for me and it’s really lucky that we have such an establishment just up the road. I studied for 3 years and whilst at college, not only did I learn the gardening side of my job, we were also taught practical skills such as brick laying and creating retaining walls. We also learnt how to create and build water features, not just physically, but also how to plant them so they function properly. Paths and driveways are an important part of many schemes and we spent a lot of time learning that if you don’t do the job properly, with the correct preparations the drive or path will sink or become covered in weeds. In fact we were always taught to do whatever we did ‘properly’ and it’s an ethos I firmly stick to at Jigsaw.
After college I spent 2 years serving my apprenticeship before beginning my own business, and the rest, as they say, is history!
